SUMMARY:CIMug Redmond 2008
DESCRIPTION:CIM USERS GROUP MEETING:\nEnabling the Smart Grid\nwith the Common Information Model\n\n December 15-18\, 2008 >> Microsoft Campus\, Redmond\, WA\n\nIntroduction\nRecent legislation has brought the Smart Grid concept to the forefront of the electric utility industry. Realizing the potential of the smart grid will require extensive system integration\, and standards are critical. The Common Information Model (CIM) is an international standard now accepted globally for modelling the information exchanges required in electric utilities. The CIM is independent of any individual application\, middleware\, or message protocols used for information exchange. The CIM User Group (CIMug) was formed for users to get information on the progress of the CIM and to share their project experiences. The user group holds two meetings each year (one in Europe and one in the U.S.). Recognized experts share their insights and resolve key technical issues. Each meeting also includes pre-conference tutorials\, vendor exhibits\, and social networking opportunities.\nWho Should Attend\nUtilities that are using standards-based integration to meet their business challenges will find this conference invaluable. Project managers\, system architects\, business and IT managers\, and control center personnel will all benefit from this meeting.\n \n\nThe meeting is open to all current or potential CIM users – you do not have to be a CIM User Group member to attend. Attendees gain first-hand access to CIM experts and come away with new insights on the power of CIM-based integration.\n \n\nLocation & Date\nThe CIMug Meeting will be held on December 15-18\, 2008 at the Microsoft campus located in Redmond\, Washington\, near the city of Seattle.  Microsoft is offering tours of its research facilities – the Microsoft Home and the Center for the Information Worker. Meeting attendees can register for these one-of-a-kind tours.\n \nThe meeting will start on Monday\, December 15\, 2008 with CIM University – a pre-conference CIM tutorial.  The formal sessions of the CIMug Meeting will begin on Tuesday\, December 16 and run until noon on Thursday\, December 18.

SUMMARY:CIMug CIGRE 2018
DESCRIPTION:The UCA International Users Group (UCAIug)\, is once again sponsoring a full booth at the CIGRÉ Session in Paris\, France on 26-31 August\, 2018.  We will feature a multi-vendor program that includes presentations and demos surrounding the IEC 61850 power system communication and automation standard and the IEC 61970 CIM power system exchange standard. The Presentations will vary by sponsor but will include the following topics: \n1.    61850 Testing Features \n2.    Troubleshooting 61850 Communications \n3.    DER Communications \n4.    Security \n5.    Routable GOOSE and Wide Area Communications \n6.    Process Bus for 61869-9 \n7.    General 61850 Topics – covering Projects or other items of interest \n8.    CIM Topics (for PSR Models\, Back Office Communications\, Data Exchange\, etc.) \n9.    Market Topics (How Markets are implemented using IEC 62325 standards) \n10. Presentations on UCA programs – Testing\, Accreditation\, etc. \n11. Printed UCA Announcements (End of Life Edition 1 Certification\, etc.) \nThe demos will cover the products and services of our Sponsors and enable the visitor to see the interaction of the products using IEC 61850 technology. These demos will be presented by 7 different members of the UCAIug from all over the world that are demonstrating their commitment to 61850 and the interoperability of power systems for electric utilities. The sponsors include DNV-GL (Netherlands)\, Doble Engineering (USA)\, RTDS Technologies (Canada)\, Schweitzer Engineering Labs (USA)\, SISCO (USA)\, SUBNET Solutions (Canada) and Triangle MicroWorks (USA). \nIEC 61850 is an international standard for power system communications based on an engineering process for designing\, testing and operating electric power systems that uniquely enables secure multi-vendor interoperability while improving system performance and reducing engineering expense. IEC 61850 is used world-wide and is supported by hundreds of UCAIug members from many countries. \nThis year we are happy to be able to add the IEC 61970 series of standards to our presentations and we hope to introduce many of the CIGRÉ visitors to the power the CIM Standards bring to the integration and data exchange issues that are currently impacting the Utility Industry. \nThis is the eighth consecutive CIGRÉ Session in which the UCAIug has sponsored a booth and we are proud of the program we are hosting this year. We continue to promote the IEC 61850 and IEC 61970 CIM standards around the world.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCIGRE 2018 – Session 47 \nCIGRE TECHNICAL EXHIBITION: THE LEADING EVENT FOR POWER SYSTEM EXPERTS \nOver 80 years back\, and every two years since\, CIGRE has brought together electrical engineers from all over the World for a unique event – the CIGRE Session. The reason for the ever growing audience of CIGRE has always been and continues to be the high quality of papers presented and the topical interest of the subjects discussed\, of direct concern for the Power Industry. \nSince 1994\, the CIGRE Technical Exhibition organized jointly with the Session has gradually become a very important event for both Manufacturing companies and Utilities\, who now consider their participation as a ‘must’. As applications for booths are many and increasing with every new event\, we have been compelled to limit the individual booth sizes and reorganize the overall surface area\, but this necessary adjustment has not clouded the success of the event as evidenced by the number of visitors – 4400 -\, and the positive appreciation of exhibitors and visitors alike. \nThe 2018 Session will take place from 26-31 August\, 2018. We hope to see you then.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:CIMug Amsterdam 2016
DESCRIPTION:CIM USERS GROUP MEETING: \nUsing CIM to Create and Support the Data-Driven Utility \n1-3 June\, 2016 >> Amsterdam\, Netherlands \nUsing CIM  to Create and Support the Data-Driven Utility \nUtilities are now collecting and storing vast amounts of data regarding their operational systems with the goal of using that data to improve reliability\, service metrics\, customer satisfaction and asset utilization. Many existing legacy systems are isolated and fragmented lacking a unified approach to data management and resulting in barriers to interoperability and integration. Many utilities are adapting a data-driven architecture for enterprise integration based on the IEC CIM standards as the means by they can turn this data into information that can be more easily used improve the utility enterprise’s performance. \nWhat is the CIM and why is it needed? \nThe Common Information Model (CIM) is an abstract information model that provides data understanding through the identification of the relationships and associations of the data within a utility enterprise. This enhanced data understanding supports the exchange of data models and messages and increases the ability to integrate applications both within the enterprise and with trading partners. These trends go beyond exchange or updates of network models to the exchange of specific dynamic data within transactional messages in a real-time environment. The CIM companion standards provide extensions and specifications that\, when used in conjunction with the CIM models\, provide a framework for the exchange of static models\, transactional messages and full enterprise integration. \nWho Should Attend\nUtilities\, energy companies\, RTO/ISOs\, vendors\, consultants\, university researchers and others involved in developing standards-based enterprise information architectures and integration frameworks to meet their business challenges will find this conference invaluable. Project managers\, system architects\, business and IT managers\, and control center personnel will all benefit from this meeting. \nWith the focus on Smart Grid interoperability and distribution applications\, vendors with CIM-based products will want to reserve a Vendor Table to demonstrate their products and discuss service offerings.\nThe meeting is open to all current or potential CIM users – you do not have to be a CIM User Group member to attend. Attendees gain first-hand access to CIM experts and come away with new insights on how to realize the power of CIM-based integration. \nDate \nThe CIMug Meeting will be held on 1-3 June\, 2016. \nMeeting Location \nThe Grand Hotel Krasnopolsky \nBrunton Avenue \nMelbourne VIC 3002 \nAUSTRALIA \nWebsite: http://www.mcg.org.au/ \nThe meeting will start on Tuesday\, 25 February with the CIM University – a pre-conference CIM tutorial. The official CIMug plenary meetings will begin on Wednesday\, 26 February and run until through Thursday\, 27 February\, including general sessions with utility case stories\, new developments in use of the CIM and much more.

SUMMARY:IEC 61850ug Dublin 2011
DESCRIPTION:From June 27 to June 30\, 2011\, the second PAC world conference will be held in Dublin\, Ireland. That event will gather many protection\, automation and control experts from around the world and IEC 61850 will certainly be an important topic. \nThe IEC 61850 users group benefits from that opportunity and is scheduling a users group meeting for Monday\, June 27\, 09.00 – 12.00 in Dublin. The meeting will take place in the Stephen court office of ESBI (18-21 St. Stephan’s Green)\, conference room 1&2. Attendees shall proceed to the 2nd floor ESBI reception and sign-in. \nMany parts of IEC 61850 have been published as the second Edition and IEC 61850 is recognized as one of the key elements for Smarter Grids. A large range of products supporting IEC 61850 is now available and in many projects\, reduction of engineering work and vendor independent system integration is considered as one of the drivers to introduce IEC 61850. \nThere are however still many challenges that need to be solved. Not all of them are standard development work related. Therefore\, we think it is a good time to reactivate the IEC 61850 users group. \nThe meeting shall be held in the form of a workshop\, where we exchange experience between different users and identify areas related to IEC 61850 where improvements are desired. This can be any area from specifications or guidelines to products\, to the engineering process and testing and commissioning. From this collection of issues we will identify activities beyond standardization work where the IEC 61850 users group can contribute. \nAgenda\n27 June 2011\, 09.00 – 12.00 \nThe proposed agenda is as follows: \n· Round table discussion about issues with IEC 61850 that the users (both vendors as well as utilities) have encountered and that they think needs a solution \n· Classification of the issues (priority\, where to solve\, …) \n· Define work packages for the UCA users group out of these issues \nWe will set up a space on the UCA users group website\, where issues can already be posted prior to the meeting to help stimulating the discussion.
