SUMMARY:IEC 61850ug Dublin 2011
DESCRIPTION:From June 27 to June 30\, 2011\, the second PAC world conference will be held in Dublin\, Ireland. That event will gather many protection\, automation and control experts from around the world and IEC 61850 will certainly be an important topic. \nThe IEC 61850 users group benefits from that opportunity and is scheduling a users group meeting for Monday\, June 27\, 09.00 – 12.00 in Dublin. The meeting will take place in the Stephen court office of ESBI (18-21 St. Stephan’s Green)\, conference room 1&2. Attendees shall proceed to the 2nd floor ESBI reception and sign-in. \nMany parts of IEC 61850 have been published as the second Edition and IEC 61850 is recognized as one of the key elements for Smarter Grids. A large range of products supporting IEC 61850 is now available and in many projects\, reduction of engineering work and vendor independent system integration is considered as one of the drivers to introduce IEC 61850. \nThere are however still many challenges that need to be solved. Not all of them are standard development work related. Therefore\, we think it is a good time to reactivate the IEC 61850 users group. \nThe meeting shall be held in the form of a workshop\, where we exchange experience between different users and identify areas related to IEC 61850 where improvements are desired. This can be any area from specifications or guidelines to products\, to the engineering process and testing and commissioning. From this collection of issues we will identify activities beyond standardization work where the IEC 61850 users group can contribute. \nAgenda\n27 June 2011\, 09.00 – 12.00 \nThe proposed agenda is as follows: \n· Round table discussion about issues with IEC 61850 that the users (both vendors as well as utilities) have encountered and that they think needs a solution \n· Classification of the issues (priority\, where to solve\, …) \n· Define work packages for the UCA users group out of these issues \nWe will set up a space on the UCA users group website\, where issues can already be posted prior to the meeting to help stimulating the discussion.

SUMMARY:CIMug Prague 2011
DESCRIPTION:CIM USERS GROUP MEETING: \nRole of the CIM in the European Commission \nMandate for Smart Grid \n10-13 May\, 2011 >> Prague\, Czech Republic \nIntroduction \nThe CIM is an international standard now globally accepted for modelling the information exchanges required in electric utilities. The CIM is independent of any individual application\, middleware\, or message protocols used for data exchange. The interoperability enabled by the CIM standards is a key factor for achieving the Smart Grid vision. \nThe CIM Users Group (CIMug) was formed to promote progress of the CIM and to share project experiences. The users group holds two meetings each year (one in Europe and one in the U.S.). Recognized experts share their insights and resolve key technical issues. Each meeting also includes pre-conference tutorials\, vendor exhibits\, and social networking opportunities. \nWho Should Attend\nUtilities\, energy companies\, RTO/ISOs and others involved in developing standards-based enterprise information architectures and integration frameworks to meet their business challenges will find this conference invaluable. Project managers\, system architects\, business and IT managers\, and control center personnel will all benefit from this meeting. With the focus on Smart Grid interoperability and distribution applications\, vendors with CIM-based products they plan to make available to this community will want to reserve a Vendor Table to demonstrate their products and discuss service offerings.\nThe meeting is open to all current or potential CIM users – you do not have to be a CIM User Group member to attend. Attendees gain first-hand access to CIM experts and come away with new insights on how to realize the power of CIM-based integration. \nLocation & Date\nThe CIMug Meeting will be held on 10-13 May\, 2011 at the Diplomat Hotel. A link to a map of the meeting location is available at the bottom of this page. See the meeting Blog on the right side of this page for more important details. \nThe Diplomat Hotel facility address and contact information is: \nMEETING LOCATION: \nThe Diplomat Hotel (http://www.diplomathotel.cz) \nEvropská\, 370/15 \n160 41 Praha 6 \nCzech Republic \nGroup Rate: €105 \nFor reservations: https://secure.netbooking.cz/diplomat/dyn/cimusersgroup2011.html \n  \nThe hotel has requested that all guests register using the Diplomat Hotel Prague secure registration site listed above. \nThe meeting will start on Tuesday\, 10 May with the CIM University – a pre-conference CIM tutorial. The official CIMug plenary meetings will begin on Wednesday\, 11 May and run until noon on Friday\, 13 May.

SUMMARY:CIMug San Francisco 2010
DESCRIPTION:CIM Users Group Fall 2010 Meeting:\nRole of CIM in the Smart Grid\n\nOctober 11-14\, 2010 >> San Francisco\, California\n\nIntroduction\nThe Smart Grid concept is now front and center in the electric utility industry. Extensive system integration will be necessary for realizing the potential of the smart grid\, and in the U.S. the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is now coordinating standardization efforts. NIST identified the Common Information Model (CIM) as a key factor in its efforts. CIM is an international standard now accepted globally for modelling the information exchanges required in electric utilities\, and is independent of any individual application\, middleware\, or message protocols used for information exchange. The CIM User Group (CIMug) was formed for users to get information on the progress of the CIM and to share their project experiences. The user group holds two meetings each year (one in Europe and one in the U.S.). Recognized experts share their insights and resolve key technical issues. Each meeting also includes pre-conference tutorials\, vendor exhibits\, and social networking opportunities.\nWho Should Attend\nUtilities that are using standards-based integration to meet their business challenges will find this conference invaluable. Project managers\, system architects\, business and IT managers\, and control center personnel will all benefit from this meeting.\n \n\nThe meeting is open to all current or potential CIM users – you do not have to be a CIM User Group member to attend. Attendees gain first-hand access to CIM experts and come away with new insights on the power of CIM-based integration.\n \n\nLocation & Date\nThe CIMug Meeting will be held on October 11-14\, 2010 at the Hilton San Francisco Airport located at 600 Airport Boulevard\, Burlingame\, CA. The meeting will start on October 11 and conclude October 14.\n\nMonday\, October 11 – CIM University\, a tutorial for attendees NEW to CIM\nTuesday\, October 12 and Wednesday\, October 13 – General Sessions\nThursday\, October 14 – Available for Working Sessions\n\nIf you are interested in hosting a break-out session\, please contact Robin Pitts (865)218-8057
