IPR draft - what is the perceived need for this IPR?
Before voting, could you please explain what the problem is that you feel the need to solve with this IPR? I have not been aware we need to copyright materials produced in the CIMug. Why start now?

From the IPR Doc:

1.1      Purpose

UCAIug created this IPR Policy (the “IPR Policy”) for the purpose of providing practical guidance to Users of UCAIug documents and to UCAIug Technical Committees and Working Groups regarding intellectual property right (“IPR”) matters. UCAIug creates different types of documents through its committees.  These documents may contain IPR.  Considering that technical experts are normally not familiar with the complex issue of IPR, this IPR Policy was drafted as a checklist to cover the three different cases which may arise if a Recommendation/Deliverable requires one or more licenses to be implemented.  .

The IPR Policy has been requested by organizations receiving our documents, and by corporations who feel compelled not to participate as long as we do not have a stated IPR Policy.

From a copyright viewpoint, all documents produced by UCAIug Technical Committees should be copyrighted.  If this has not been the case, it will be once the IPR policy is in place.  Notice that all of our pages, and document libraries are copyrighted.
