Clemens Hoga is Vice-Chair, UCAIug.  He received the Dipl.-Ing. Degree in Information Technology from Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Science, Nürnberg, in 1985. He joined SIEMENS in 1986. From the beginning he was involved in the development and product management of industrial communication protocols, especially for factory automation applications.

During this time he was actively involved in the standardization of Profibus and other factory automation protocols. In 2000 Clemens transferred to the Siemens Power Transmission & Distribution sector where he was responsible for the Substation-IT project for implementation of IEC 61850. Since 2000, he is active in several IEEE PSRC working groups. He is a member of IEC TC 57 WG 10 and of the DKE 952, the German IEC 61850 mirror committee. He is author of numerous papers about IEC 61850.
