The UCA International Users Group (UCAIug), is once again sponsoring a full booth at the CIGRÉ Session in Paris, France on 26-31 August, 2018. We will feature a multi-vendor program that includes presentations and demos surrounding the IEC 61850 power system communication and automation standard and the IEC 61970 CIM power system exchange standard. The Presentations will vary by sponsor but will include the following topics:
1. 61850 Testing Features
2. Troubleshooting 61850 Communications
3. DER Communications
4. Security
5. Routable GOOSE and Wide Area Communications
6. Process Bus for 61869-9
7. General 61850 Topics – covering Projects or other items of interest
8. CIM Topics (for PSR Models, Back Office Communications, Data Exchange, etc.)
9. Market Topics (How Markets are implemented using IEC 62325 standards)
10. Presentations on UCA programs – Testing, Accreditation, etc.
11. Printed UCA Announcements (End of Life Edition 1 Certification, etc.)
The demos will cover the products and services of our Sponsors and enable the visitor to see the interaction of the products using IEC 61850 technology. These demos will be presented by 7 different members of the UCAIug from all over the world that are demonstrating their commitment to 61850 and the interoperability of power systems for electric utilities. The sponsors include DNV-GL (Netherlands), Doble Engineering (USA), RTDS Technologies (Canada), Schweitzer Engineering Labs (USA), SISCO (USA), SUBNET Solutions (Canada) and Triangle MicroWorks (USA).
IEC 61850 is an international standard for power system communications based on an engineering process for designing, testing and operating electric power systems that uniquely enables secure multi-vendor interoperability while improving system performance and reducing engineering expense. IEC 61850 is used world-wide and is supported by hundreds of UCAIug members from many countries.
This year we are happy to be able to add the IEC 61970 series of standards to our presentations and we hope to introduce many of the CIGRÉ visitors to the power the CIM Standards bring to the integration and data exchange issues that are currently impacting the Utility Industry.
This is the eighth consecutive CIGRÉ Session in which the UCAIug has sponsored a booth and we are proud of the program we are hosting this year. We continue to promote the IEC 61850 and IEC 61970 CIM standards around the world.
