Description |
This seminar will provide an overview of the IEC 61850 standard for communications networks for power utility automation. It is focused on the end user of the standard. First, the seminar will provide an overview on the concepts of IEC 61850 and will provide a more detailed insight view on the different aspects of IEC 61850 that are of relevance for a utility engineer or system integrator that intends to use IEC 61850 communication for the utility automation in the future. Then, the course addresses how the standard is applied today in projects and implementations. The IEC 61850 standard supports many optional features – not all of them are implemented in all products. This has an impact on the design of multi-vendor systems. On the basis of many practical examples, the participants will understand the problems that may arise for multi-vendor projects and they will learn how to deal with them.
