Bio

Dr. Ivanov has over 15 years experience in transmission system operator business. He received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Technical University of Varna, Varna, Bulgaria, in 2002 and 2006, respectively. From 2002 to 2007, he was a power system engineer in the System Analysis and Transmission Planning Department at the National Dispatching Center, Bulgarian National Electric Company (NEK). From January 2007 to June 2009, he worked as a Data and Modelling expert, UCTE Secretariat, Brussels and he was a convenor of UCTE Ad-hoc group “UCTE format”. From July 2009 to July 2016, he worked in the ENTSO-E Secretariat, Brussels dealing with multiple topics such as grid modeling, data exchanges, CIM, R&D and Strategy activities and. Since 2009 Dr. Ivanov has been directing 7 ENTSO-E Interoperability tests. Until July 2016 he has been a liaison person ENTSO-E – TC57/WG13 and he was participating in the work of IEC/TC57 and actively involved in the organization of CIMug events as well as in WG Process. Dr. Ivanov was contributing to various CIM related projects such as EPRI project CIM for Dynamics. From July 2016 he is working with TenneT TSO GmbH, Germany dealing with power system stability analyses and various projects. From 2019 he is Convenor of ENTSO-E group on CGMES (Common Grid Model Exchange Specification). His special fields of interest include power system stability and control of power system oscillations in particular.

Dr. Ivanov is a senior member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society and a member of the IEEE Power & Energy Society Power System Dynamics Performance Committee.
